To quote the A.J.D, owner of the site and partner: “Stagadon is four hectares of land rising amidst the rocks, next to the Île Vierge lighthouse, at the entrance to the Aber Wrac’h, one of the few safe harbors along the treacherous North Finistère coast. From its crescent-shaped beach, the sea often takes on tropical hues. Although just two nautical miles from the mainland, don’t be fooled into thinking this little island is easily accessible. Reaching it is an adventure. Along the way are razor-sharp rocks and tricky currents. That’s why it’s somewhat magical.”
Fanny Gicquel participated in Résidence Tempête #2 in March 2021, in partnership with the A.J.D (Amis de Jeudi Dimanche) association. She invited Alice Delanghe to join her in working both at the Aber Wrac’h shipyard and on the island of Stagadon. Together, and with the A.J.D shipyard team, they produced an edition featuring photographic and textile explorations around the theme of transmission and continued their work with the creation of a video. This residency inaugurated a new format to be reactivated in the future.
