Before Ouessant
This need to catalogue, explore and film natural spaces that captivate and move us. Alongside writing, exploring the island with my camera and microphone in search of images and sounds that might find a place in the final film. And then, as the work exists thanks to the encounters and landscapes encountered, meeting the people who live in Ouessant, discovering the landscapes and life stories that populate this island.
The short videos made to date clearly appeared to me as sketches for a future film, a succession of stories bringing together individuals who seem to be struggling together against a reality that overwhelms them. Friends who are not actors but who, for me, become actors, and who in my fictions no longer speak and yet coexist. Altered landscapes and senses, a life after death where anything is possible.
This island is not located, like a timeless space where the evils of reality are taken care of. They have all collapsed in their respective lives and have been brought here to experience an adventure that will bring them together. This island exists as a space for experimentation, a place that allows them to invent new ways of feeling, observing the world, and speaking. A space in which my video work can flourish in the form of a film, to construct new rules of the game.
After Ouessant
The island contains the life stories of Alexandros, a Greek actor and dancer living in Athens; Zoe Heselton, a British poet, guitarist and singer based in Strasbourg; That of Telma Gonzàlez, a trumpet player studying in Toulouse; that of Jenny Pineau, a French artist living in the Dordogne; that of Alex, a French composer and musician living in Marseille; and that of Élie, a French artist living in Ouessant.
