The Résidence Mer Calme takes place aboard the trimaran Peter Pan, part of the Arctic Lab program—an educational and scientific initiative with strong media potential. It focuses on climate change and anthropogenic pollution, setting course for Iceland. The artist joins navigator Vincent Grison on the crossing and/or a navigation around the island to explore landscapes and meet with scientists.
The goal of Arctic Lab is to build connections between our territories and a part of the world in severe climate distress: the Arctic.
In 2021 and 2022, Arctic Lab traveled to Greenland’s East Coast to study the evolution of sea ice and detect pollutants such as microplastics, mercury, and hydrocarbons.
In 2023, the organization aims to diversify the research fields it supports by fostering an artistic research project and a humanities and social sciences program. Alongside this, it continues its year-round educational and awareness-raising activities, introducing two new objectives: developing environmental protection initiatives and targeting activities for disadvantaged neighborhoods.
