Finis Terrae – Island Art Center develops projects in wild territories, characterized by stunning natural landscapes. We promote movement, distance, and perspective—essential elements for fostering artistic research and practices. More broadly, the association is committed to disseminating national and international contemporary art in locations peripheral to the mainstream “art world.” Hosting international artists often runs parallel to collaborative projects with global organizations.


The territories explored are insular, maritime, and occasionally continental. The connection to the sea or isolation, movement, and local culture are always central to the projects, which are specifically tailored to each context and the practice of the invited artist. This approach leads us to discover new spaces, including Aber Wrac’h in Finistère (Brittany, France), Menez Meur in Finistère (Brittany, France), Harplinge in Halland County (Sweden), and beyond.
